Accessibility statement
A good website is one everyone can use: with a keyboard, with a screen reader, zoomed to 200%, on an old phone or on a slow connection. That’s what we aim for on our own site, and on our clients' sites.
Our goal
The 4etdemi.ca website aims for Level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. We’re also keeping up with WCAG 2.2.
What we’ve done
- A clear structure: ordered headings, navigation landmarks, breadcrumbs, and the language of each page declared (French or English).
- Full keyboard navigation, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- Colours with contrast checked against Level AA.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images; decorative images are ignored by screen readers.
- A quote form with visible labels, clear error messages and confirmations announced to screen readers. It also works without JavaScript.
- Respect for your device’s "reduce motion" setting.
- A lightweight site, with no cookies or third-party scripts, that loads quickly even on a slow connection.
How we checked it
Last review: October 2026, by the team that built the site.
- Automated tests (Lighthouse and code validation) on every page, on mobile and desktop.
- Keyboard navigation and zoom up to 400% checked on the main pages, in French and English, with scripted browser tests: visible focus on every element, menu, language switcher and form reachable by keyboard, no horizontal scrolling or cut-off content at 320 pixels wide. Colour contrast checked against Level AA.
Automated tools only catch some barriers. The site hasn’t had an external audit or testing with people who use assistive technologies yet. So we don’t claim everything is perfect: we aim for Level AA and fix what we find.
Known limitations
- The ½ symbol: depending on the screen reader, "4½" may be read as "four one half" or another way. Our name is pronounced "quatre et demie" (four and a half).
- Example illustrations (such as the sample chat previews on the AI integration page) are presented as images, with a text description.
- The demo sites linked from our portfolio are separate websites. They aim for the same level, but only their home pages exist in English.
- The form delivery service (Web3Forms) is an outside service. If sending fails, you can always email us directly at bonjour@4etdemi.ca.
Found a barrier? Tell us
If a page, document or feature gives you trouble, we want to know:
- Email: bonjour@4etdemi.ca (put "Accessibility" in the subject line)
- Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and, if you can, the device, browser and assistive technology you use.
We’ll reply within 2 business days. If some content isn’t accessible to you, we’ll provide it in another format (plain text by email, for example) or walk you through it by video call.
